GOVERNMENT CLARIFIES REOPENING OF SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, all the schools and educational institutions along with offices are shut down. The reports of closing schools till December is checked again and again by the authorities. It is still not confirmed that schools will be closed until December.
According to the government agency, the Central Government has not made this decision yet. All the schools are shut down since March. The Education Minister said that schools will reopen only after discussing with the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Human Affairs. When the situation gets normal, the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Human Affairs will decide when it is safe to reopen schools.
State Government of Assam, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Goa are assuming the schools to reopen from September. But parents are not ready to send their children in such a critical situation. Although cases are under control with a good recovery rate, but, it is not safe for the students to go to school.
Many parents want the school authorities to reduce the syllabus and continue online classes. There are many students belonging to the weaker section of society. They do not have access to online education tools. That is why it is difficult to choose between online classes or classroom education.
It is certain that whenever schools will reopen, things will not be ‘normal’ as before. School authorities will take care of safety measures and precautions to protect everyone. It will be compulsory for everyone to wear masks and have sanitizers along with them.
SCHOOL AUTHORITIES WILL CALL CLASS 9 TO 12 FIRST
HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal said that there will some changes in the education system. School authorities will modify seating arrangements, change timings, and divide classes into different sections. Schools will reopen in a phased manner and students of class 9 to 12 will be called first.
According to the ministry, it is not sure for students who are in class 1 to 5 of 6 to 10 years of age to go back to classroom education. These days, teachers are providing online lectures to students. Due to coronavirus pandemic, the education ministry was going to declare this year as ‘zero academic year’.
For college students, the higher education secretary said that students who will enroll in college this year will join in November-December. There will be proper facilities to conduct exams and classes for which students enrolled.
