COLLEGES CAN BE OPENED TO CONDUCT FINAL YEAR EXAMS, SAYS MHA

The Supreme Court has been informed by the Ministry of Home Affairs that it has allowed the limited opening of educational institutions to conduct the final year exams in accordance with the guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC) on July 6.
In an official notice by the UGC, the Universities/Colleges have been directed to conduct the final year exams before September 30, 2020. The college can use either online, offline, or a blended model to conduct these examinations. the guidelines of the UGC have been challenged through various petitions in the apex court.
In an affidavit, the MHA has informed the Supreme Court that during Unlock 3.0, it has allowed the opening of educational institutions after taking into consideration, the academic interests of many students.The affidavit said that after taking into consideration, the academic interest of a large number of students, it has been decided by the MHA to grant the exemption for the opening of educational institutions for the holding of evaluation/examinations work for final year exams.
The matter is expected to be taken up by the apex court on Friday.On July 6, all the colleges and universities were asked by the UGC to complete their final year exams by September 30.
